Is there anythign better than wine tasting when summer transitions to fall?

At The Independence Hotel, we are located in the Willamette Valley near the Eola-Amity Hills AVA and Van Duzer AVA, as well as several wineries on the Heart of Willamette Trail. It’s the perfect time of Year to enjoy the harvest and check out all of the increadible nearby wineries, many with outdoor seating.   Relax by the pond at Airlie (owned and operated by women), or watch the hummingbirds at Cristom Vineyards, which serves what Wine and Spirit Magazine call, “the #1 pinot noir in America’s top restaurants.” With so many stunning outdoor (and socially distant) spaces, don’t miss this magical time of year that combines the warm breezes of summer with the fresh harvest of fall.

 Imagine this Harvest Itinerary……

You wake up naturally (no alarms today). You travel to Left Coast Estate at your convenience, grabbing some tasty food via their “café bites,” which consists of cheeses, charcuterie, breads, and paninis. You pair it with one of their signature wines, or perhaps a bottle, but the day is still young! If you’re with a group of 2-6 people, make an advanced reservation for their “Sparking Cave Tasting Experience,” where you’ll explore the tradition of sparkling wine (and yes, more food is included). Next, stop by Cubanisimo Vineyards, Fridays in September catch live outdoor music and grab a snack from their foodtruck from 5-7 pm, with the backdrop of vineyards and Mt. Hood and Mt. Jefferson.

Finish the night off by getting a bottle to go and taking it back to The Independence Hotel.
Once settled, stargaze from the rooftop deck, absorbing each moment of these last few weeks before the rains return.

GREAT OAKS FOOD TRAIL

Harvest in the Valley is more than the wine harvest, it is also the ideal time to enjoy local flavors and produce.

The new Great Oaks Food Trail provides several culinary itineraries to explore, including farm stands, u-pick orchards, cheese-making, and so much more! The Independence Hotel makes the perfect jumping-off point to embark on a culinary journey through one of the most beautiful, iconic, and delicious regions of Oregon.
