Here’s a look at our staff-recommended itinerary that unveils hidden gems, local favorites, and the true essence of Independence, or as us locals call it, “Indy”.
La Belle Promenade Vineyard
Day 1
- 12PM: Arrive in Independence and enjoy an outdoor lunch at Brew Coffee & Tap House.
- 2PM: Explore Downtown Independence.
- Nothing helps you explore an area quite like walking through it. Check out the local shops. People watch from Riverview Parkway. Look for local Osprey, Bald Eagles, and just see where the afternoon takes you!

Explore Downtown “Indy”
- 4PM: Grab a pint from Parallel Brewing and celebrate how Independence was once the hops capital of the world, as you sip your brew in the sunshine.
- 5:30PM: Check in at the hotel.
- 6PM: Pick a local restaurant. Craving authentic Thai? Head to Silk Thai Cuisine in Independence, voted best Thai food (2021) and Monmouth/Independence restaurant (2021) – their fresh ingredients and friendly service will make your dinner delightful.

Day 2:
- 9AM: Eat a complimentary breakfast at the hotel.
- 10AM: Take a relaxing ride on the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway.
- Bring your bike from home, check one out at the Independence Hotel, or rent one in town (The Bike Peddler is always a great choice).
- Download a self-guided tour (check out Ride With GPS) and explore Oregon in true PNW style.
- We recommend purchasing a Bike Indy Pass to receive special discounts at local establishments as you ride, and pack plenty of water so you can take your time and enjoy the scenery.
- 1PM: Yearning for a taste of home? Look no further than Pink House Cafe in Independence. This family-run gem serves up homemade lunch specialties that burst with flavor.
- 2:30PM: Try something seasonal outdoors.
- Depending the weather, you can kayak down the Willamette River (rent one via Independence Kayak Rentals), bird watch in Riverview Park, hike through Silver Falls (a hidden gems of the PNW), book a horseback riding tour through Polk County, or embrace your inner adrenaline junkie and book a tandem jump at Skydive Oregon. Whatever you pick, just make sure to embrace everything outdoors today!
- 6:30PM: Dinner at Gilgamesh Brewing- The River
- Enjoy delicious food and beers, with an awesome crowd-pleasing patio and a family-friendly atmosphere
- 8PM: Take a bottle of wine up to the rooftop deck and stargaze the night away
